Saving ZachariaViews: 96

Tonight, I met a remarkable young man. He sat quietly against a wall, his 13 year-old body ravaged by the cancer that is steadily eating away at his liver. With a slight smile, and slowly raising a fragile arm, he introduced himself to me in a quiet voice. I was struck by the frailty of his body, the greenish color of his skin and the courageousness of his young spirit.

His story is remarkable because Zacharia and the sister who cares for him were homeless for two years. In and out of shelters, the two of them struggled to survive on the kindness of strangers. Abandoned by parents, the two fought for survival in a cruel world that didn’t give a damn. When a diagnosis of cancer was made several months ago, Zacharia begin undergoing chemotherapy. His sister said he seemed to be in remission, but that the cancer has returned with a vengence. They are now living with relatives and his only sister, Marguerita, continues to be his main source of comfort.

Please pray for Zach. While other teenagers text their friends and worry about what to wear, Zacharia is struggling to survive. Each breath he takes is a luxury. Time is running out, and he desperatley needs a miracle. He believes in miracles, although the malignant cancer does not. Please take a minute to pray for Zacharia. Perhaps our prayers will bring healing to his dying body. Maybe there is a chance that he will receive a liver before his own liver fails completely. God, please give a dying boy another chance at life…please save Zacharia.

I will pray for Zacharia!

Praying for this beautiful spirited boy!
